The Challenge

Canberra Cyber Hub selected CRE8IVE to develop a highly active cyber security platform where universities could share pathways and opportunities for students to engage in learning. The project had an ambitious scope, involving multiple intersecting users and stakeholders. To navigate the requirements effectively, we applied user experience guidelines and collaborated closely with stakeholders to determine the optimal course of action.

Solution

C8.Digital designed a Drupal-based GovCMS website that met the security and governance requirements of the client. Recognising the early budget constraints, we launched a light version of the website in Phase 1, providing a proof-of-concept and allowing CCH to test the portal with a select pool of users. We successfully tendered for Phase 2 of the project to deliver the full functionality of the portal across the full database of users.

Phase 1

With the use of taxonomy for the different content types, we were able to help prioritise and give the client a lightweight phase 1 portal that allowed university stakeholders to login and create content.

Phase 1 included a user-led design process which covered a range of steps, including:

  • Interviews to understand user needs
  • Draft personas
  • Draft website requirements for both phases to outlined detailed scope and capability for each phase
  • Information Architecture and tagging
  • Build
  • Training

Phase Two

Following this, the CCH was ready to expand on the solution. CRE8IVE tendered for the Phase Two work. The goal of this phase was to allow registration processes and create bespoke workflow for registered users to make the user experience as simple and automated as possible.

We built user journeys to integrate the full site functionality and add new universities. With Phase Two, university students could register, and university administration would receive an automated request for a new addition.

We developed a seamless user registration process, giving control to the different types of users, all in a highly secure environment. The CCH team were provided with an overarching view and administrative privileges.

The portal developed from a single information source into a sophisticated collaborative space for a range of different stakeholders with different informational and interactive needs.  The website was scheduled for launch in July 2023.

Results

After a successful kick-off, CCH can now create and manage their own content and members. We created a custom registration flow for organisations and members to match the business requirement for CCH. There have been significant time and efficiency savings, limiting the manual work to just 1 click (approving the organisation and its first admin).

The website contains rich content contributed by CCH staff along with a range of contributing organisations including universities, employers, researchers and more.

The new platform has been well received in its first phase and with full launch scheduled for July 2023, it is set to revolutionise the way that multi-party stakeholders engage within the university community.
