Whitlam Brand & Display Village

Suburban Land Agency (SLA) looked to CRE8IVE to build a brand identity and promote Whitlam which is now one of the ACT’s most sought-after suburbs. Since the conception of Whitlam, CRE8IVE and SLA have maintained a long-lasting partnership throughout several sales releases and the creation of the SLA Display Village. Since the launch in 2019, SLA has had 8 land releases in Whitlam, with the majority selling out within days.

Brand Building
 

In 2019, Whitlam was scheduled to be released in challenging market conditions. We had to create a brand that was memorable and distinctive. Using research insights, we developed a vibrant, welcoming brand. Whitlam’s ‘Feels Like Home’ positioning is a connection to place, honouring heritage and home. Whitlam uses storytelling and strong brand values to build desire for the suburb and trust in the SLA.

Brand Launch


To launch Whitlam, we hosted a premium outdoor movie night on the lawns of Old Parliament House. The event was free, but entry was via a competition that was advertised across Canberra FM radio and a strategic social media campaign. The launch event was highly successful in attracting more than 5000 users on the landing page, with unprecedented organic media attention and entry numbers that surpassed all expectations.

Stories of Home
 

Each of the six mini documentaries created for the launch celebrated a unique Canberran’s contribution to the broader community. The idea cleverly linked each individual’s personal values to Whitlam, and personified the suburb’s essence.

Display Village Launch


We curated an event that demonstrated SLA's values in an engaging and meaningful way. Activities included a sustainability garage, a Welcome to Country and Ngunnawal cooking demonstrations. The launch of the Display Village saw over 3,000 people attend, exceeding a key objective and gaining media coverage across local networks.

Wayfinding


We designed wayfinding to guide visitors through the Display Village. Focussing heavily on the user experience of visitors, we worked closely with SLA to create and install environmentally sustainable signage that is functional and beautiful.

Digital Companion


We created a digital companion as a tool to educate, support and showcase Whitlam’s features. It includes ‘snackable’ short-form content to give them an enhanced experience at the village and at home. QR codes placed around the village allowed visitors to scan and explore more content.
